Timecard is a free weekly timecard calculator for employees, managers, and payroll. Enter clock-in and clock-out times in a fast block format, add breaks, and watch daily totals, weekly totals, and overtime calculate automatically — with both decimal and HH:MM formats plus CSV export and printing.
Accurate time tracking matters for more than just getting paid correctly — it protects employees from being underpaid for overtime, helps managers keep labor costs predictable, and gives payroll teams a clean audit trail. Timecard is designed to be fast enough for daily use: the block-style entry with Tab navigation mirrors the way time clocks and timecard forms have always worked, and the calculator instantly applies your chosen overtime rules, whether that is the standard 40-hour FLSA threshold or California’s daily overtime rules. When the week is done, export the totals as CSV for your payroll system or print a copy for your records — all without any data leaving your browser.
Hourly employees use Timecard to keep a running record of their week — clock-in and clock-out for each day, breaks subtracted automatically — so they can verify their paycheck covers every hour and every overtime minute they worked.
Managers and small-business owners use it to prepare payroll without spreadsheet formulas: totals come out in decimal hours ready for most payroll systems, overtime is split onto its own line (standard 40-hour or California daily rules), and the printed or exported timecard doubles as the audit record.
Enter clock-in and clock-out times using the block format: type the hour and minute separately, then press Tab to move to the next field. Click the AM/PM button to toggle, or press Enter while in the minute field. Add break time in minutes. The calculator automatically computes daily hours, weekly totals, and overtime (hours over 40). Toggle between decimal hours (8.50) and HH:MM (8:30) format.
Select the "Decimal" format option above the table. The calculator automatically converts hours and minutes to decimal format (e.g., 8 hours 30 minutes = 8.50 hours). This is the standard format required by most payroll systems.
In Standard mode, overtime is any hours beyond 40 in a workweek (FLSA standard). In CA mode, California daily overtime rules apply: hours 8–12 in a day are 1.5x overtime, and hours over 12 in a day are 2x double time. Toggle CA mode on/off using the switch in the info bar.
Yes! Your data is automatically saved in your browser's localStorage. You can export to CSV for Excel/payroll, or print directly from your browser (Ctrl+P / Cmd+P) for a clean timesheet document.
Time rounding adjusts calculated hours to the nearest increment. For example, rounding to 15 minutes means 8:07 becomes 8:00 and 8:13 becomes 8:15. Rounding to 5 minutes means 8:07 becomes 8:05 and 8:09 becomes 8:10. This is commonly used for payroll simplification.
Yes. If a clock-out time is earlier than the clock-in time, Timecard treats the shift as continuing into the next day and adds 24 hours automatically — so a 10 PM to 6 AM shift is calculated as a full 8 hours.
Enter the break length in minutes next to each day and it is deducted from that day's worked time automatically. Hours are clamped at zero, so an oversized break entry can never produce a negative total for a day.
Yes. Timecard stores your times, break lengths, employee name, format, rounding, and overtime mode in your browser's localStorage, so your week is still there when you come back — even after closing the tab. Your data never leaves your device.
